how does any of this apply to me?
“we” is a hope. maybe we create something together. maybe we cook together. maybe we share ideas together. art is participatory, as are relationships and life broadly. we could do really cool things together, if we can dream of something better for us all.
keep scrolling down to see a gallery of cool projects. if you want a formal portfolio and bio instead, you can find that here:
here are some past “we” projects
this is an illustration from a book project. it was really cool to do something i never thought i would be able to do in this life. i'd like to do it again! look at my portfolio to see if we mesh well
this is a coloring page i made after spending a few weeks by myself in the great bear wilderness as resident artist. it was a wild time. this was a project to help folks engage with nature and know what to look out for while they're visiting the middle fork of the flathead river.
i am one of two ambassadors for PrimaLoft. this one time i was asked to join a video shoot last minute, and i met some cool people doing cool things. now i test and use their products, and am brutally honest about how/where i use them and how to maintain the COZY anywhere i go. learn more about all that at PrimaLoft
this is a commissioned piece (watercolor, gouache, ink, digital underpainting) requesting the subject matter include an ouzel and brown trout. it was a real treat to create, and i'm now doing a sister piece inspired by the salt. you can see more of that on my art website
i like finding ways to build confidence and have folks making their own decisions instead of waiting for instructions while fishing. i do some of this through illustrations with Soul Fly Lodge and writing buddy Jesse Lance Robbins.
this is a bunch of merch made for Confluence Collective. you can buy it all on the website, or ask me to make cool stuff for you!
i founded Confluence Collective in 2019, and it has become a community of anglers dedicated to being their whole selves on the water. we work to make sure that is possible for every body. community events are the backbone to the work, but culture disruption and consciousness/growth takes a lot of forms. check out the website for more on that and hopefully we can fish together soon!
this is an alternate cover design for a project I did with an author. i did all the illustrations from cover to cover. it was really cool, and won't be published until next year. want to make a book? let's talk:
my friend joe klementovich takes great photos, and is a great fishing buddy. i worked with him on some storytelling for Farbank/Sage. i like doing this kind of thing.
i also enjoy being a part of community science events. this is from a tournament, but i was there to talk about fish handling with the team at keep fish wet. have us come talk about this work sometime!
this is one of the ready-for-print designs made with scientists and community organizers at Keep Fish Wet, Maine Department of Marine Resources, Confluence Collective perspective, and a bunch of community outreach findings. A full review of this campaign (and similar ones) can be seen on the Confluence Collective website
i am freelance in everything i do, and work well remotely. want to meet virtually before meeting in person? hmu
sometimes i am an outdoor model for brands like patagonia. here i am casting to fish in Maine, Dawnland of the Wabanaki Confederacy. you can see me in stuff from time to time, like a random fly shop in ireland [as sent to me here by my friend when they were traveling] or your inbox wearing a new fly fishing vest, or on the patagonia website holding a brook trout.
cheeky little brand package for a queer gal out west
these cute cut up trouts were a project for guide education to promote interactions with fish that were more focused on the well-being of the fish, and avoid grip-and-grin injuries. scientific illustration is so fun and i love to nerd out. i've done it a few times, you can see more on my illustration website
one of the grassroots conservation campaigns designed and strategized with Keep Fish Wet and partnering local conservation group. open access downloads to break down paywalls between data and anglers, communicated in a way that makes sense. see the whole thing on a website
i really like storytelling and getting people outside to build their own relationship with nature. here i am casting to stripers off the coast of Maine, or Dawnland of the Wabanaki Confederacy. working with photographers on projects, or brands to share experiences has been really fun with the right people. if you're down to get real about being human in the outdoors, let's talk
here i am teaching people how to cast a fly rod at Brunswick, ME Pride. i love teaching people things, and learning from them. if you want to do something around my Maine Guide and Outdoor Educator credentials, we can do that!
peter pauwels is a legend in adaptive fishing. i've learned a lot from him and the work at Camp Bullwheel. here we are building a more stable watercraft for folks with mobility restrictions to feel more secure while fishing. we should go learn from peter sometime in Ennis - lmk if you want to come
this lil guy was part of a scientific illustration project with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. what a DREAM to illustrate all these wonderful creatures in the waters around us. you should see what they're used for and what work is happening over at GMRI.
one time in covid lockdown i did a series of rangeley region classic streamers designed by women, reclaimed by migratory songbirds you might hear/see while fishing them. they hold a special place in my heart.
in my Professional Past 9-5, i did a lot of international education and intercultural skills work, trainings and designing custom study abroad programs. if you want to nerd out about culture [especially how to disrupt exclusionary outdoor culture norms] let's talk
